I'm seeing the election results in the US, and the exultant punch hasn't hit me yet. I should be ecstatic, this historic blue wave is what I dreamed of 4, 8, 12 years ago. There's celebrating to be done, but I'm not out dancing in the Sicilian streets. Why not?
I can't get MAGA out of my head. It's so upsetting that millions of Americans blindly support a pedophile, a rapist, a racist, a thief, a child killer, genocider, Russo-Israeli agent, disgusting sick sub-human traitor. What is wrong with Republican voters? Where is common decency? Can't we distinguish right from wrong anymore? Can't you Christian fanatics recognize the AntiChrist you studied in Bible class? Since when are you Nazis, war lovers, dictator lovers and pedophile protectors? Hard to believe from where I sit. You may wonder, in fact, what we Europeans think: here it is. I've never met a Trump supporter, ever, not one. Right-wing movements have some self-serving support, but Trump none.
What concerns me? I wonder if Democrats have the courage, the gumption, the revolutionary fight to take on the criminal Epstein class? I look at Schumer and Jefferies and I'm dubious. Do the right thing, boys and girls, forget bipartisanship, stick to the Constitution. The criminals must all be prosecuted, all tried, convicted, punished -- no discounts, all crimes count: war crimes, financial crimes, election crimes, hate crimes, sex crimes. Finally, it's clean up time, accountability time, find out time. Get creative, get ferocious. Muller and Garland wishy-washy-ness won't cut it. Go after the thugs like sharks. Rule of Law takes cojones. Impeach members of Congress, judges, cabinet members and the president. What happened to the crime of treason? Bring it back and put the guilty in jail, in the cell block next to the full Epstein gang, including all accomplices and defenders. Especially the oligarchs, every dirty fucking teeth-pulling monster. Take their passports, bank accounts, companies, take it all. Let them "experience homelessness" for a while. Or just move Silicon Valley north to San Quentin.
The issues of affordability, the bogus war in Iran, data centers and AI, tariffs, corruption, anti-fascism, death squads and concentration camps (Fuck Ice), public health, public education, Ukraine support, immigration (i.e., fear of foreigners), patriarchy protection, defense spending, capital punishment, abortion rights, trans rights, on and on. All matter, but for me the life or death issue is climate. Not because the disasters will hit us all sooner or later, not because we may already be damned, but because a new way to live in our natural world without destruction or domination is right. We are human animals; we need to stop killing and build harmony. Bio-diversity, endangered species, forests, oceans, clean air water food all matter more than we do. We are the ones who haven't figured out how to live here yet. Now with several indigenous people in power, let's learn a completely new attitude and behavior towards Planet Earth. To help get ourselves back to the Garden.
So, indigenous people (including Latinx) were elected, racial and religious-minority people, LGBTQ+ people, young people, progressives and outright socialists elected to represent their constituents. Hey that's me. Hey that's a good thing. I've never voted or supported so many winners before. Why so blasé in a moment of positivity, my boy? Get your blue suede shoes on and dance! Every little victory is a big victory. And vice versa.
Then, work to do, let's get to it.
